Bekko

Bekko are mat (non-metallic) white, red or yellow koi that have a distinctive set of sumi markings over their body. They are often mistaken for Utsuri, which are similar but are predominantly black koi with white, red or yellow markings.
Colours
The Bekko’s sumi markings should be jet black and solid in appearance.
Shiro Bekko: This is a white koi with sumi markings.
Aka Bekko: This is a red koi with sumi markings.
Ki Bekko: This koi has a yellow bas with sumi markings.
Patterns
The pattern on bekko is very simple and elegant, with small sumi markings spread evenly over the body.
Head
The head of a Bekko should be free of any markings, and the same shade of colour as the rest of the koi.
Body
A large sumi marking on each shoulder is desirable, as are small clusters of sumi balanced along the length of the body.
Tail
The pattern of the sumi markings should finish just before the tail.
Fins
A Bekko’s fins may be either white or have sumi stripes in them.
