Hikarimoyo Mono

Metallic koi that have more than one colour but are not of Utseri lineage generally fall into the class of Hikarimoyo-mono. The koi of this class are extremely popular because they are highly metallic, appear in many colours and are immediately attractive to the eye. When buying one of these young koi , make sure the head is clear of black, as this is not unattractive for a young koi, but becomes more noticeable as the koi grows.

The koi varieties in this class have arisen from two sources. The first group includes koi that have resulted in crossing Platinum Ogon with any other variety except Utseri. The second group consists of varieties known collectively as Hariwake. These koi all have two colours, platinum, and metallic orange or gold.
