Koromo

Koi found in the Koromo group are much admired by collectors. The hi pattern is outlined in a darker colour, which varies with the particular variety. Koromo koi are bred from Kohaku crossed with Narumi Asagi.

Colours
The most important aspect of the Koromo is the basic Kohaku pattern with a very deep hi.

Ai-goromo: This is the most common of the Koromo group. It is basically a Kohaku whose hi scales have blue semicircular borders, giving the koi a reticulated pattern.
Sumi-goromo: These koi, as the name suggests, have sumi on the hi pattern which creates an impression of dark elegance.
Budo Goromo: This koi has a white background to a purple grape like cluster of colour, and has no head markings.
Budo Sanke: This koi has both the colours and patterns of a Sanke, but in a different form. It has sumi over laying the hi to give it a purplish affect.
Koromo Sanke: This is bred from the Ai-goromo and a Taisho Sanke. It has the Koromo reticulated pattern over the hi markings along with the sumi markings of a traditional Sanke.
Koromo Showa: This is the result of crossing Ai-goromo and Showa. The hi pattern is once again overlaid with the reticulated Koromo pattern.
